Is Dry Shampoo your thing? Here’s the low-down on this water-free option.
In an earlier article, we explained what dry shampoo is. Now we want to help you decide when to use it.
Whatever your hair type, here are a few reasons to choose dry shampoo over the more typical suds and soap hair cleaning process.
- To save time – Washing your hair with water may take more time than you have. Dry shampoo is a great interim option.
- To retain your hair color – If you’ve just paid a small fortune to get your hair colored, alternating dry shampoo with your regular wash will help keep your hair vibrant, especially if you use a demi-permanent or semi-permanent formula.
- To keep that new ‘do’ looking salon perfect. If you’ve just had your hair done and you want it to look almost as good as it did when you left the salon a few days earlier use dry shampoo.
- To keep your hair smelling fresh as a daisy. Let’s face it. Our hair is great for hanging onto all kinds of odors. If you smoke or live with a smoker or if you spend time in places where strong odors are present, your hair will tell the tale. To get around this ‘not so pleasant’ situation apply a bit of dry shampoo to your hair.
- To pump up your hair style. A natural dry shampoo can do wonders. It can help add texture to your hair, perk up your curls or sagging waves and add volume to dull hair.
- To soothe your sensitive scalp. Your scalp might feel irritated after putting in new extensions or a weave. Apply dry shampoo for quick relief.
Using Dry Shampoo is as easy as 1.2.3:
- Step 1: Part your hair in sub sections.
After shaking the bottle, hold the can about 8 – 12 inches away from your hair. - Step 2: Move your head in an upside-down position
Use your fingertips to massage the dry shampoo into the roots of your hair. If you notice damp areas, use a blow dryer on low temperature at the roots. - Step 3: Distribute the shampoo throughout your hair
Comb to move the product through the strands of your hair.
