This Oscar award winning actress bravely did the Big Chop at the age of 19 after her father jokingly mentioned she should cut off her hair because maintaining her relaxed hair was too expensive.

As we can imagine, it was a lot to consider. “I spent days thinking about it first,” she says about the decision. “Once I did it, it was very liberating, but I also felt very naked. When you feel the wind on your scalp, it’s like, Oh, my God. But I’ve kept my hair short ever since.”
